account. Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking
an Academic Advisor I - Boca Raton, FL. The Academic Advisor I
provides comprehensive advising and onboarding support for transfer
students, serving as a single point of contact from deposit through
first-term registration. This role collaborates closely with
college advising offices and University Advising Services to
support student transition, registration, and retention; utilizes
advising technologies and analytics to track student progress;
assists students in navigating academic requirements and university
resources across multiple campuses; and contributes to transfer
student programming, outreach, and onboarding initiatives. Summary
of Responsibilities: Manages advising and onboarding for 30–89
credit transfer students after deposit as a single point of
contact. Takes a leadership role in working with the college
advising offices on advising transfer students, including details
relating to advising at transfer student Orientations, open houses,
recruitment, and other onboarding events. Utilizes and refines the
Advising Inventory via the onboarding portal to collect information
about pending credits, intended enrollment status, and major
intentions for transfer student advising. Tracks and generates
reports to identify transfer student caseload through registration
for the first term. Provides direct advising for transfer students
and high-credit FTICs for their first semester by assisting
students in transitioning into their majors of choice. Addresses
questions about general education requirements, general education
equivalencies, and common prerequisite coursework for their chosen
majors. Clear undergraduate registration holds. Facilitates the
scheduling of transfer students needing advising by the College
directly on the College's academic advisor calendars via the
Success Network. Assists transfer students with navigating the
various offices and services at FAU, including Boca, Davie, and
Jupiter campuses, and refers them to appropriate offices on campus
for assistance, including those transfer students needing advice on
the choice of major and career options. Helps identify and guide
students through the General Education petition review process and
college credit evaluation. Provides a curriculum overview and
prepares students for their college advising appointment. Utilizes
advising and predictive analytics software for tracking, outreach,
note-taking, and referral flags. Performs retention efforts,
virtual student outreach, and job-related tasks for some extended
evening hours on a rotating basis to support transfer students and
UAS on multiple FAU campuses, depending on events and campus needs.
Reports to the Assistant or Associate Director, University Advising
Services, overseeing transfer student onboarding. Coordinates
efforts with the Transfer Student Services team and attends regular
meetings. The transfer advisor is also part of the University
Advising Services team. Collaborates on the development of internal
advising. Monitors and responds to transfer-related emails on the
listservs. May serve as a liaison to an assigned college or student
support unit on campus, and assist with revising and updating
curriculum information and other media publications. Travel may be
required between the three campuses, Jupiter, Boca Raton, and
Davie, as necessary for meetings and functions. There will also be
local travel for selected events and programs. May teach the SLS
transition courses. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited
institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills: Master's degree in education,
Student Affairs/Development, Counselor Education, Psychology, or a
related field. One year of experience in academic advising,
counseling, student services, or related functional area within a
university setting is preferred. Graduate internships experience
may be applied toward the year experience. Proficiency with
Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel and
Access. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and
professionally, both verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of
the Appreciative Advising model is strongly preferred. Demonstrated
ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student
population, think critically, and collaborate effectively with
colleagues and departments across the University. Salary: $55,000
annually. Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP).
College or Department: Undergraduate Studies - Transfer Advising
Services Location: Boca Raton Work Days and Hours: Monday - Friday,
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Some night, weekends and virtual hours as needed.
Must be willing to work from the FAU Boca campus, as this position
